Beering (Steven C.) Hall of Liberal Arts and Education (BRNG)

100 North University Street

Steven C. Beering Hall houses the deans’ offices for Purdue's College of Liberal Arts and College of Education as well as several departments within each.

The 214,000-square-foot building comprises a seven-story office wing, a three-story classroom wing and a full basement. Instructional computing labs, 53 classrooms and hundreds of offices are located here. It was completed in May 1993.

Visual highlight. On the second floor, in the foyer of Rooms 2280 and 2290, find mural-sized, full-color, limited-edition Hubble Space Telescope images, a donation from Peggy Motes McBride, Class of 1964. The images are as wondrous as their names: Cigar Galaxy M82, Eagle Nebula M16, Great Orion Nebula M42, Helix Nebula NGC 7293 and Whirlpool Galaxy M51.

Photo opportunity. Pictured in front of Beering Hall is Founders Park — a beautifully landscaped pedestrian mall with Purdue's historical Loeb Fountain, an interactive water sculpture.
